"The Sounds of Scotland" Show has developed into a must listen for Scots and non Scots worldwide.
Over 20 years years ago Andy created The Sounds of Scotland Show, since then, he's been playing a great mix of Scottish Music, from Folk, Scottish Dance Bands, to the Bothy Ballads right through to the Bagpipes, and everything in between. From Calum MacPhail, Cammy Barnes, Emily Smith to Andy Stewart, Jimmy Shand, The Alexander Brothers, Brandon McPhee, Runrig, Gaberlunzie, Ian Bruce, Moira Kerr, Bruce Davies, Isla Grant, Tide Lines, Schiehallion, Claire Hastings, Torridon, Peat & Diesel, Skipinnish, Skerryvore to the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, with some cheery chat, sharing a laugh along the way. The show is internationally syndicated and is broadcast on multiple radio stations around the world.
With over 1100 shows under his belt, he's produced a new show every week since 2002, having only repeated one show in that time.
Andy's an award winning broadcaster, born in Fyvie, Aberdeenshire. He spent the first few years of his life in the NE of Scotland with the Doric, where he developed his wry sense of humour. Andy spent his teenage years growing up in Ayrshire in the heart of Burn's Country, where he developed his love of Scottish Music and history.
A progressive Dairy Farmer for many years, Andy farmed in Scotland, Canada and in the USA. After retiring from farming for health reasons, in 2002, he returned to Canada from the USA and channeled his enthusiasm in a new direction.
Andy is a Burn's lover, growing up in the Ayrshire farming community in the footsteps of Robert Burns, acknowledged as being well read on the life and works of the bard. Andy annually hosts and performs at Burn's suppers nationally.
He is involved in many Scottish events, both Nationally and internationally. Since 2003 Andy has been the MC and announcer at the annual The Kincardine Scottish Festival & Highland Games.
Andy was also the MC and Announcer at this years Northumberland Scottish Festival & Highland Games on June 21st 2025 in Port Hope, Ontario, Canada
